Abstract

This present paper regards to a segment of touristic activity recently in Brazil: the Rural Tourism. The goal of this study is to check out if this kind of segment can be considered a way to promote the local development of the settlement Tijuca Boa Vista, Quixadá, Ceará. To check it out, we have used case study the techniques through the achievement of a research exploring the amount of visits in the spots, and the application of interviews and questionnaires semi structured to the settlers and responsible for the administration of the guesthouses settled in, as well as a literature about issues related to the theme. We came to the conclusion that these activities couldn’t be considered as the forwarder of the local development, once the same couldn’t consolidate themselves. Even we have got a previous moment helping diversify the local economy through the generation of employment and income, of the offering of training courses to the settlers and the involvement of the most of local dwellers, in the stage of the implantation of the activity and the application of the federal funding for the local infrastructure improvement.
