The contribution of urban planning in the image and competitiveness in the tourism destination Curitiba (PR)

This article aims to analyze the contribution of urban planning in the competitive image of Curitiba-PR, as a tourist destination by analyzing the demand surveys of Curitiba-PR, in the years 2005 and 2010. The methodology used in this article was an exploratory study with literature review and document search application. In the evaluation, were used to analyze, the models of Competitiveness of Porter (1989); Esser, (1994); Ritchie and Crouch (1999); Heath (2003); Dwyer and Kim (2003); the Global Competitiveness Report (2007) and the Planning Model of Boullon (2002), seeking to verify the relation of competitiveness with urban planning and destination image. As main results, the paper identifies the importance and relevance of urban planning in the development of the tourism in the city, the appropriation of public spaces as attractive and qualification of equipment and infrastructure in the tourist experience in Curitiba, and how it reflects in the image of itself as a competitive tourist destination.Downloads
