Prostitution and (des)construction of the image of a tourist destination: the Atalaia seashore, Aracaju (SE)

The search in know new tourist destinations is increasingly evident. In this aspect, the construction of the image is still fundamental element for the tourist development of a region, generating this way an exigent and more mature demand, what only increase the responsibility in the conduction and elaboration of public politics that that allow the competitiveness, in a perspective of tourist sustainability, of these new destinations. The prostitution is a deformation of the tourism which threatens the sustainability and the construction of this image. This way, the article proposed an analyzes of the impact that the activity of prostitution provokes in the construction of the tourist image of Atalaia seashore, Aracaju-Sergipe, for have presented, concomitant to the development of the tourism in the region, a migration of the activity of prostitution from the city center to the Atalaia seashore. The methodology employed in this work was the analysis of content of Bardin. The conclusion verified that the activity of prostitution in the neighborhood is not motivated by the tourism, opposing the questioning of that the tourist activity would be the main factor of growth of the prostitution in the Atalaia seashore.Downloads
