The aplication of the SWOT analysis in the turistic planning of a place: the case of Araxá, MG

Abstract

Planning in tourist activity is a hard task, but necessary. Through the SWOT analysis, an important tool for the planner, it’s possible to make a more detailed analysis of a place, in order to detail the role that it plays. In the 25th, 26th and 27th of April 2009 it was performed a field research in the city of Araxá, in Minas Gerais, aiming to raise data for policy planning and tourism and through themes to find strategic points to conclude the proposed task. With the work on site, it was possible to observe that Araxá is a city where there is a policy of encouraging touristc activity, although a lot can still be done.
