The Louvre Museum and its attention to tourists: the permanent search of good welcoming

The Louvre Museum receives millions of tourists and regularly applies a qualitative research on 10.000 visitors, aiming at knowing their social-economic profiles, origin, preferences, cultural habits and specially their level of satisfaction with services offered. This article is the result of a field research carried out during the period of Phd Sandwich Scholarship at EIREST - Equipe interdisciplinaire de recherches sur le tourisme da Université Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne. Its general objective consists of investigating Brazilian tourists’ social-economic and cultural profile, their expectations, travel habits and level of satisfaction with services offered. The specific objectives are to present the museum’s research practices and to analyze the interviewees’ answers. The methodology of research encompasses the reading of bibliography on researches of public in museums, analysis of research reports developed by the Louvre Museum and application of semi-structured qualitative interview. The result obtained corroborates the general index of satisfaction from tourists who visit the Louvre Museum.
