The influence of relationships for the performance of accommodation service companies

Abstract

Tourism is a clustered economic activity. The interaction between the various public and private actors is important for both destination and companies competitiveness. This study focus on business level and aims to analyze the influence of interorganizational relationships on the performance of companies in the lodge industry. Data were collected from questionnaires applied to 152 companies and three Brazilian destinations (Tiradentes – MG, Bonito – MS and Itatiaia – RJ). The results indicate that companies with superior performances have different patterns of relationships with both companies of the productive chain of tourism as supporting organizations.
