Abstract:
It is evident the need of tourism trainee professionals to develop two fundamental professional qualities during: first, capacity of work, search and administration of web pages and Internet; and second, oral capacity of communication in professional environments. It is a matter of debate whether the new professionals in the tourist commercial sector should dominate a series of communicative strategies or to know the language truly at an level advanced (Ellis and Johnson, 2000). The main goal of this paper is to evidence and show that both perspectives should be combined. In order to approach these two points of view, this article tries to address two questions about the conversational training of future technicians in tourist activities: 1) The human interaction through the use of Internet has a positive effect in the professional instrumental motivation; 2) The process to use internet tourism websites to facilitate the work of those instructors interested in continuing the same focus in its work. In order to studying these points, the paper is divided into three parts: A) Methodology in the experiment; b) Results of an experimental analysis of a pilot study carried out with a total of 48 subjects belonging to second course of the Faculty of Tourism in the School Upper technical college of Gandía; c) Discussion and conclusions around the development of professional competences and linguistic improvements. As conclusion, this paper suggests that this approach turns out to be highly motivating both for the students as for the instructors and suggests some further directions of investigation.
