Conceptualizando: el viaje como creación cognitiva en estudiantes de turismo de Buenos Aires

Abstract:
Mass communication and technology revolution that emerged amid of XXth not only have altered the way of travelling but also contributed tourism as a new social institution. Under such a context, modern tourism should not be understood beyond the travel as a form of physical and symbolic displacement. The present paper explores as to how advanced students in tourism fields reconstruct the image of their journey following their own experience. For that, we have drawn a sample of 19 students in tourism and hospitality with 10 females and 9 males ranging from 22 to 30 years old. The findings of this research should be within the scope of universe wherein it has been carried out and should not be extrapolated in other contexts. Freely, we asked kindly to participants to draw how they remind their experiences in the last travel accompanying such pictures by a coherent narration. Results reveals in participants the boundaries between destination and journeys seem to be blurred. Moreover, almost half participants opted to draw an urban tourist destination while the other half did the same with a natural environment. Possibly, immensity of urban attractive reduces the odds to perceive subjectively other realities related to the ways people behave in the street. On contrary, subjectivism is vindicated whenever participants remind their sojourn in natural environments.
