Repensando a “hospitalidade” do povo brasileiro: como e porque somos e não somos hospitaleiros

Resumo

O presente texto objetiva ensaiar uma reflexão acerca das relações de hospitalidade vigentes na formação cultural do brasileiro. O ensaio se pautou em pesquisa bibliográfica, basilarmente, na obra Raízes do Brasil de Sérgio Buarque de Holanda. Trata-se de um estudo bibliográfico; ensaístico na forma, pois traz mais questionamentos e especulações do que inferências empíricas. Como considerações da pesquisa, algumas inferências de ordem teórica podem ser inventariadas acerca da chamada hospitalidade do povo brasileiro. A primeira considera imprecisa a ideia de que o Brasil é um país hospitaleiro, pois pouco foi mensurado empiricamente. Muito do já produzido sobre o tema mais especula do que investiga. Somos hospitaleiros? Sim e não! A segunda inferência expressa que a ideia é também equivocada, pois, embora o brasileiro seja um povo culturalmente unificado, existem grandes diferenças regionais e intra-regionais que diferem as relações sociais no país. A terceira e última inferência considera a ideia de povo hospitaleiro como algo perigoso, pois naturaliza as relações sociais.

Abstract:

The present text has an objetive to assay a reflection concerning the effective relations of hospitality in the cultural formation of the Brazilian people. The assay is based in bibliographical research, fundamentally, in the workmanship Raízes do Brazil from Sergio Buarque de Holanda. One is about a bibliographical study; attemptive in the form, therefore brings more questionings and speculations than empirical inferences. As considerations of the research, some inferences of theoretical order can be inventoried concerning the well known hospitality of the Brazilian people. The first one considers inexact the idea of that Brazil is a hospitable country, therefore little was measured empirically. Much of already produced on the subject more speculates than it investigates. Are we hospitable? Yes and not! The second express inference that the idea also is maken a mistake, therefore, even so the Brazilian is a culturally unified people, exists great regional differences that differ the social relations in the country. The third and last inference considers the idea of dangerous hospitable people, therefore it naturalizes the social relations.
